General Information
If you are selected to audition, a member of BCO’s staff or the audition committee will contact you via email with more details about the audition. Employment for each position begins in September 2026. The BCO is a professional per-service orchestra that performs 5-6 concerts each season scheduled annually between the months of September – May. The BCO and its Players’ Committee recently ratified a 4-year Collective Bargaining Agreement covering the 4 seasons between the Fall of 2025 and the Spring of 2029 that will increase the orchestra’s base pay rate by 13% over the course of the agreement’s term. The pay rates per service for Section Musicians and Asst. Principal Strings over each season is as follows:

2027-28 Season: $120.12
2028-29 Season: $124.92
ASST. PRINCIPAL STRING PAY SCALE PER SERVICE
2026-27 Season: $121.28
2027-28 Season: $126.13
2028-29 Season: $131.18

All preliminary, semifinal, and initial final rounds will be behind a screen. The screen may be removed at the discretion of the committee and the union steward after the initial final round. The audition committee reserves the right to dismiss any candidate who does not meet the highest professional standards.
