Jacob Joyce
Biography
Conductor
Currently the Assistant Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Resident Conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony, and Music Director of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony, Jacob Joyce is quickly gaining recognition as a dynamic presence on the podium. Joyce has debuted with several American orchestras including the Detroit, St. Louis, Houston, Richmond, Ann Arbor, and Toledo symphonies. Abroad, Mr. Joyce has conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, the NDR-Sinfonieorchester, the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, and the Frankfurt Museumsorchester. His awards include a Solti Career Assistance Award, the Robert Spano Conducting Prize at Aspen, and he was a semifinalist in both the LSO Donatella Flick and Solti International Conducting Competitions. As the host and creator of the podcast Attention to Detail he provides people of all backgrounds with basic techniques for listening to classical music. Mr. Joyce studied Orchestral Conducting with Hugh Wolff at the New England Conservatory, received a B.A. in Music and Economics from Yale College, and a M.M. in Violin Performance from the Yale School of Music studying with Syoko Aki.
